Introduction to the UFA

‘I didn’t realise learning can be fun!’

‘It was great to feel intelligent!’

If you are thinking about becoming a teacher to make a difference, then finding out more about the UFA is for you!

If you want to get comments like the ones above, then this organisation can give you the tools you need!

So what is it?
The UFA (University of the First Age) was founded in 1996 in Birmingham, and now works nationally in partnership with communities and schools. It is part of the Academy of Youth (AoY), which is an umbrella company for 5 organisations including the UFA.

What do they do?
The UFA works with schools and communities to innovate learning. They champion innovative approaches to teaching and learning to transform the learning experiences of children and young people, and to promote their educational achievements. They are also working to better prepare young people for adult life by allowing them to make informed choices about their learning and by giving them the opportunity to contribute to their communities.

So if you think that providing young people with more of the same, in the same way is not advancing the achievement and success of many young people, then you need to find out more!
