My experience in PGCE

My placement at Aylsham High School has been a fantastic experience. When I arrived at the school back in snowy February(!), I really wanted to develop as a teacher and the opportunities that I have been given, not just in a teaching capacity, have more than prepared me for the early years of my career.

My placement has been characterised by a whole-school ethos based on sharing resources and reflecting on practice. Also, the fact that Aylsham High is a Training School meant an excellent support network: from Link Teacher to Subject Mentor; Head of Department to Head of House; Classroom Teacher to Learning Support Assistant.

I feel I should give special mention to the English department who have been so welcoming. Although I was not technically an employee at the school, there were many occasions when I forgot this; such was the support and appreciation for the work I was doing across the placement.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone at Aylsham High School the very best for the future. Thankyou for inviting me into the school; it has been a real pleasure to work and develop my skills as a teacher with you.
